2015 Ford F-150 Davis Dam

Ford took a 2015 Ford F-150 with an all new 2.7 liter EcoBoost up Davis Dam’s 13% grade, a grueling test of pickup truck capabilities. This is the same road used by SAE to test tow ratings. With its 325 horsepower and 375 lb-ft of torque the all new engine makes quick work of the climb and beats out the Ram and comes in about equal with the Chevy, equipped with an engine almost twice the size of the Ford’s V6, a 5.3 liter EcoTec3 V8. See below for pictures and video. While this is a very interesting result, we can’t wait to see how much fuel these trucks consumed while doing this. In other words we can’t wait for MPG figures on this engine! This engine combined with weight reductions in excess of 700 pounds for some models should make for significant gains in efficiency.
