Watch a 2012 Ford F-150 powered by a 3.5 liter V6 EcoBoost pull a semi-truck out of the snow in the aftermath of a Chicago blizzard in the video below! Semi’s likely weigh somewhere in the neighborhood of 20 to 40 tons. The truck basically does a burnout down to dry pavement and then gets the traction it needs to tug the semi truck out slippery situation. We do have to remember though that this is not similar to towing 20 – 40 ton as the truck here is not carrying the load, it’s simply pulling on it to get unstuck. Doing this shouldn’t hurt a truck, unless done for extended periods of time, then you’d be at risk of cooking your transmission up. But let’s not forget that a truck with this engine between 2011 and 2014 has a max-tow rating of 11,300 pounds or for a 2015 F-150 as high 12,200 pounds!
