Livernois has tuned the 2015 EcoBoost F-150

Friday, February 27th 2015. | 2015 Ford F-150, News

Livernois has tuned the first of four 2015 F-150 engines, the 3.5 liter V6 EcoBoost, with great results! So far they’ve just released a conservative stage 1 87 octane tune, but the numbers for the stage 3 tune are in, they just require more testing to tweak and finalize their tune. A Stage 3 tune is what Livernois deems a safe performance level for an otherwise completely stock truck. They’ve put a Stage 3 tuned 2015 Ford F-150 on the dyno and saw 386 horsepower and 468 ft-lb’s of torque at the rear wheels, when they dyno’d the 2015 F-150 on its stock tune they saw 309 horsepower and 345 ft-lb’s of torque, so that means they managed to gain 77 horsepower and 123 ft-lb’s of torque!

On top of that, those incredible gains aren’t the only benefits of this tune, Livernois has also tweaked a number of other things. They’ve adjusted shift points, as the 2015 F-150 tends to shift earlier than some would like at part-throttle. It also does this at full-throttle, which causes the truck to not reach its full performance potential, so they’ve adjusted this parameter as well.

They’ve also adjust shift firmness and torque management. On the stock tune the F-150 tapers off its torque before a shift point, this helps the smoothness of the driving experience, but it’s not good from a performance point of view. Finally, they enhanced throttle-response and feel for more linear and natural throttle performance.

So as you can read, they’ve accomplished an incredible power increase and on top of that they’ve made that power much more usable and accessible. We already predicted these gains in power in an article earlier this week, as this is the same engine Ford put in its 2011-2014 F-150. But it’s nice to see in black and white what was accomplished with this engine in the 2015 F-150. Livernois has noted that they have quite a backlog of people anxious to get a tune for their 2015 truck, so their regular turn-around time of 24-48 hrs will be a bit higher.

We don’t doubt that other tuners are not far behind at all as they are getting their hands on ’15 models to get to work on testing. We’ve already reported that 5-star has a 2.7 liter EcoBoost truck at their shop and I know that LET is looking for people in the Houston area with 2015 model year trucks, they are offering a free tuner, a custom tune and dyno results in return for 9 hours with the vehicle (8am to 5pm) at their shop.
