The 2015 Ford F-150 most notably saved its give-or-take 700 pounds by switching from steel to aluminum for its body, but there are a few other key areas that Ford engineers managed to cut weight in, adding up to roughly 150 pounds. Take a look at the infographic below to learn more.

As you can see in the infographic Ford saved 13.7 lbs in weight at the fenders, an impressive 35 lbs at the rear axle (while increasing its durability, I might add), 26.9 lbs by installing an electronic parking brake, 3.8 pounds by installing a magnesium transfer case on 4WD models, 16.3 lbs by using aluminum steering knuckles (that survived the Baja 1000) and 2.7 lbs on 4×2 models with a lighter front bumper. It doesn’t stop there though! Ford also saved weight in the interior, up 31.7 lbs at the front and up to 14.7 at the rear. Finally Ford saved weight by smartly choosing the materials that make up its interior panels.
