Ford Adding 2,000 Jobs at Kansas City Assembly

Wednesday, May 8th 2013. | 2013 Ford F-150, News

Ford is adding 2,000 jobs to its Kansas City assembly plant, this is to support surging F-150 demand and to support the launch of the Ford Transit (which will be available with a baby-Powerstroke 3.2 liter 5 cylinder). These won’t be all new hires, even still 1,000 of these jobs will be new hires. This has Ford 75% of the way there for its goal to create 12,000 new hourly jobs in the US by 2015.

The Ford F-150 has been seeing record sales in April, up 26% from the same time last year (up 19% ytd). This gives both confidence in Ford and confidence in the economy as a whole. Pickup truck sales seem to be an indicator of new construction and new jobs. Ford’s full-size truck sales are growing at three times the industry average and that in the fastest growing segment this year. Very impressive.
