2015 F-150 EcoBoost Rated Greenest Truck

Thursday, February 12th 2015. | 2015 Ford F-150, News

The people over at the American Council for an Energy Efficient Economy (ACEEE) rated the 2015 Ford F-150 equipped with 2.7 liter V6 EcoBoost engine the greenest truck. Even ahead of the 29 mpg EcoDiesel, this likely is because diesel is a dirtier fuel and as we reported, it’s a more expensive truck to own and operate. In that same article we also reported the 2.7 liter outperforms the EcoDiesel. The 2.7 liter EcoBoost also goes head to head with its V8 competitors.

Another fact that likely lead to ACEEE crowning the 2.7 liter EcoBoost equipped truck as the greenest truck is the fact that Ford sorts and recycles its aluminum at their stamping plants as part of a program with their aluminum suppliers. ACEEE claims to look at the total environmental impact when choosing a vehicle for its rating. This includes emissions, manufacturing and type of fuel, all of which seem to be in the F-150’s favor, although several of its competitors did receive above average ratings.
