We reported on a fix for the 2011 and 2012 Ford F-150 with misfire/running rough/intermittent stumble under hard acceleration during wet/humid/damp conditions. Ford has come up with TSB 14-0017 to repair this on 2013 and 2014 Ford F-150’s as well (running 3.5 liter V6 EcoBoost engine) without needing to block the intercooler, allowing it to continue running at full efficiency. And more importantly, won’t fall flat on its face during hard acceleration, such as passing someone or merging onto a highway. This can be quite an unwelcome and dangerous surprise.

Previous fixes for 2011’s through 2014 called for a shield to block off part of the intercooler to get the temperature up and as a result avoid the condensation building up in the unit. With this TSB that’s accomplished through reflashing the PCM to the latest revision of software. And same as the previous TSB, if necessary the catalytic converter will be replaced. Below is a video that goes into further detail on the EcoBoost acceleration/misfire fix.

UPDATE (2/13/2015): For some of you this TSB still doesn’t completely solve the problem, read more here for possible solutions.
